Country Perception - Saudi Arabia
How countries see each other—largest global study to date
Why this report matters
In a world increasingly defined by global competition, strategic rivalry, and shifting geopolitical narratives, understanding how nations are perceived on the world stage has never been more essential. The Country Perception Database offers unparalleled access to the most comprehensive global dataset on international country reputation, capturing how the world’s largest 100 nations are viewed by their neighbors, key trading partners, and culturally or strategically aligned countries.
Drawing on insights from over 100,000 respondents across more than 100 countries, this data-rich report examines the evolving national image, soft power influence, and global trust of major players such as the United States, China, and Russia. It also tracks which countries maintain the strongest international relationships—and which face diplomatic or reputational challenges—based on their economic reach, foreign policy posture, and cultural presence in the global arena.
Key Findings
- Singapore holds the most positive international image among its neighbors, key trading partners, and other relevant countries, followed by Switzerland and Qatar. At the other end of the spectrum, Israel, Belarus, and Iran have the most negative perception globally.
- The perception of the United States has declined noticeably over the past year. Its global net perception rating dropped from +22% in 2024 to -5% in 2025, which is lower than that of China (+14%) and is similar to Russia’s (-9%). The proportion of countries where the US held a net positive image decreased from 76% to 45% over the same period.
- The countries with the strongest ties – where citizens express the positive views of one another – are the Northern European countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. At the opposite end of the spectrum, people in Egypt and Israel express the most negative views of each other, followed closely by Ukraine and Russia.
